Landers Superstore is set to open its first branch in Cebu in May 2017. This is the third store in the Philippines and the first outside of Metro Manila. They've been building the excitement of the Cebuano public since November of last year. It was a great decision for them to open within the city. It's near Ayala Center Cebu and public transportation is not a problem.  The Cebu branch of Landers is located along Cardinal Rosales Avenue beside the IEC Pavillion and 23 Minore Park. When the 65th Miss Universe pageant was held in January, at least 19 contestants lent their time and creativity in customizing their own pair of Converse sneakers.  Miss Philippines, Maxine Medina's personal design These personalized Chucks will be silently auctioned off to interested buyers, patrons and admirers.  Proceeds of the auction will go to Positive Action Foundation, HIV/AIDS foundation supported by the Miss Universe organization. The sneakers were designed by the contestants when they flew in to Cebu last January 17. They spent almost the entire day painting and constructing their works of art. The beneficiaries of the Auction are persons living with HIV/AIDS and their families. Some of these individuals were displaced from their employment because of their illness. December 3rd will be a fun and memorable event for families and running enthusiasts in Cebu who would sign-up for McDonald's Run for Reading challenge.  To promote reading in kids and show them that learning is easier with books and stories. I'm not a marathoner nor a runner but I am an advocate of reading. And this is one event that I can see myself supporting because of the core theme. There will be 6 different categories for the runners. You can run as an individual or compete in the team challenges. Winners of each category will be awarded prizes.
