The Rock Sugar Honey Sauce Craze Comes to Brewer's Kitchen Cebu
Heavenly taste of rock sugar honey sauce |
All that glitters in Brewer's Kitchen is the result of that flavor sauce made of rock sugar honey. It's salty, sugary, and sticky combination is addicting.
It's all the craze in the Philippine food scene and I got to sample dishes coated with this Chinese-cooking key ingredient when I got invited to Brewer's Kitchen by Brewery GastroPub. It's one of the restaurants that recently opened at City Times Square 2, Mandaue City.
When I go to a pub, I gravitate towards more to the food than the beer. And if a place serves appetizing and tasty meals, I won't hesitate to spend time and money.
Rock sugar honey sauce is more of a glaze rather than a marinade. You normally add this to have that zing to your dishes. It works well with grilled, fried, and roasted food.
If you want to have the full experience of this tantalizing glaze, order the Rack of Skewers which has lime chicken, Thai pork, grilled bratwurst and Hungarian sausage.

Other noteworthy house specialities are the Spicy Buffalo Asian Chicken Wings and the Beer Can Chicken. I suspect, taste-wise, that these two were also drizzled with rock sugar honey sauce.

Beer, beer, and more beer
Boasting of over 50 beer brands and flavors ranging from IPA to wheat to amber ale to blonde, you'll never run out of options when you're at Brewer's Kitchen. They even have draft red wine that looks pretty when being pulled from a tap.
If you're at a lost on what drink to order, I found a poster hanging on one of their walls that's a helpful guide on the different beer types that are available. It would be nice if they can print this out and make it part of their menu.
Reading the labels is like taking a trip around the world. From Australia to Japan to Belguim to the Philippines, it's the United Nations of Beer.
Putting the Gastro in the Pub
I love going to gastropubs like Brewer's Kitchen because aside from the good selection of drinks, they also have mouth-watering food. It also doesn't hurt that they're creative when it comes to presenting their food. Whether it's a roasted chicken on top of a beer can or celery sticks in a miniature shopping cart, a good time could be had in this Cebuano gastropub.

Prosciutto Ham Flammkuchen
If you hadn't tried a hand-rolled pizza, they have this thin crust German-style pizza called flammkuchen. It's another great way of eating pizza.

Burger Sliders and Fries
Good quality beef patty and nicely-baked buns make Brewer's Kitchen's sliders a must-order when you're here. Goes well with any type of beer.

Mozzarella Bombs
You want to experience a cheese explosion in your mouth? Then you have to eat these little babies! I prefer eating them when they're still hot in order to get that sticky and gooey feel of the mozzarella.
Literally, the bomb! Melts in your mouth. |
Brewer's Kitchen by Brewery Gastropub is not your typical gastropub. You have to discover what lies underneath.
It is located at City Times Square 2, Tipolo, Mandaue City, Cebu.
